Barrel & Flow was fantastic. Again.
Originally started as Fresh Fest in 2018, founders Day Bracey and Ed Bailey re-imagined the festival into Barrel & Flow in 2021. This was the 4th year Angel and I attended.
Held at 3 Crossings in Pittsburgh's Strip District, the festival brings all kinds of black brew masters, artists, and cooks from all of the country together. And it does not miss.
I have to get out of the mindset of wanting to try everything though. I don't typically like IPAs but if it was up to me, I'd try every single one they offer. But the problem is, the sample glasses were bigger than ever and I didn't want to waste beer because I ain't no bitch I didn't want to dump someone's hard work out. So I was feeling it hard by the time we hit the last two strips of samples. So hard that my glass was filled with water.
I've got to stick to goses and sours and lager next year. And eat more food while I'm there! We left before I could go back and get food and the restaurant I hoped to order take out from wasn't on Grubhub... so I ended up with some weak smoked wings and some well-made cornbread for dinner.
I have to make sure I eat next year. I'm still a little mad about it.
Anyway, if you're in the area next August, definitely check out Barrel & Flow. Tell Ed and Day Hyphen sent you. And then, as Tupac said, "Look for me."
